Trash to Treasure

I will never understand a lot of things in this world. One thing that tops my list is why people put perfectly good furniture out for the garbage men? Okay, well this table had a couple of flaws. The top wasn't in great shape. The baskets needed a little lovin' and there was a slight cat pee odor inside the table, behind the baskets. These things can all be fixed. This table is solid wood and VERY heavy. The drawers are solid wood, appear to be made out of birch plywood, and they have wicker on the front of them.

Here is a before picture of it.

I decided that I wanted it to have a Key West type look to it. So we painted the whole thing with ASCP in Cream. The top was sanded down completely and stained dark walnut. Then I put dark wax over the cream. It looked good, but I wasn't feeling it. The stain was splotchy and I tried and tried to fix it but had no luck.

So we decided we'd paint it black. I think this looks a lot better. What do you think?

    1. Thanks MarTay! It was a faint smell, not super strong, but we used every cleaning product we had and scrubbed it out. It basically just needed a very good cleaning. I'm glad people are too lazy to do stuff like this though because I will gladly do it!!
