"My husband hates that I met you"

I received the best compliment from someone today. She said those words to me, "my husband hates that I met you". I was thrilled! See, I met a new friend on a local website where people buy and sell things. She bought an end table I painted recently. When she came to pick it up, we started talking about furniture and she said she had a piece to bring over to me to get painted. She contacted me last night and said she wanted to buy another end table that I had for sale too. Her husband must really love me. HAHAHA!!
She came over Saturday afternoon and brought me this. It was in two pieces and looked pretty sad. The inside had some type of thatched wallpaper in it. Yuck!

She had barely pulled out of the driveway when I whipped out the belt sander and started sanding the top of it down. I went through a lot of sandpaper for the orbital sander and a couple pieces for the belt sander too. Off to Lowe's I went for more sandpaper. She said she wanted the top stained dark and the body painted Coco. Late last night she texted me and said she wanted it painted Arles instead. I was very glad to hear that because I thought it would look a lot better. The inside wood is very thin and just pieced together. Between that the wallpaper in it, it needed some work. She said she didn't want any of that redone, just painted & distressed. After I got finished with it today, I had to at least put some contact paper inside to cover up that old wallpaper. It looks a lot better now. She was thrilled with it and that's all that matters to me. :)

Nothing is safe in this house!

Nothing is safe from my paint brush! I will find a perfectly good piece of furniture, paint it, use it for a while and then months later think, Hmmm, what if it were this color instead? I really don't know how my husband puts up with this nonsense but thankfully for me, he does. Here's my latest redo and re-redo. Sorry this is short but my computer is 1 minute away from going dead. I need a new battery for my laptop. ARGH!!

Vanity Stool

This is the stool that goes with the vanity I painted in Arles paint recently.
It is a homemade stool, very old and it was upholstered in some hideous fabric. There must have been 150 staples in it, I wish I had taken a picture of the pile I had after pulling them all out. The owner is going to reupholster it with her own fabric so I took it apart, painted and distressed it and put it back together.

Here is an after picture of it along with the vanity it goes with.

Mirror Mirror On The...Floor?

I find that mirrors very hard to photograph. You have to make sure that you have all your dirty laundry out of the way, make sure you aren't in the picture, etc.. This is the mirror that goes with the vanity I painted with the Arles paint.

Beautiful Arles

Arles. Does anyone know what this is? Well, Arles is a city in the south of France but it's also a color paint in the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint line. I painted a vanity and mirror with this color this weekend and let me just say, I think I'm in LOVE!!! This vanity goes with the bed that I recently painted in Old White. My customer wanted it heavily distressed and I was happy to oblige of course!! Here's a close up of the drawers.

Here is the before picture. I must say, the furniture was pretty stunning before.
